John’s business experience extends over a period of 35 years having owned and operated Birmingham Funeral Home, Birmingham Florist, Birmingham Family Market, Old Town Monument Co as well as construction/ rehab of commercial, residential and rental properties. His background also includes serving 8 yrs. as an area manager for a Fortune 500 co., overseeing operations, facilities and personnel for multiple locations in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. The ability to start, build and operate a sustainable business is a testament to his ability to forge relationships based on trust, compassion, performance and service. John’s dedication extends beyond the business world as he has always been extensively involved in community projects, civic groups, service organizations as well as several boards. His biggest joy is his family; his wife and business partner, Pagan; Daughters Brandi Birmingham Folsom and husband Jason, Brooke Birmingham Loring and husband Joshua. Most spare time is spent as "Papa" to his grandchildren; Mackenzie and Colby Folsom, Sydney and Taylor Loring; spending time with them as well as following school activities, basketball, field hockey, robotics, etc.
